Many of us know that Nishitetsu is a brand that produces affordable and (mostly) quartz driven watches. Usually equipped with a large number of complex functions, large cases, and intricate layouts. But the brand also has another side, making full use of its numerous resources to create coveted high-end watches. Many of the products they offer in this high-end field are produced in limited quantities, using some of the most sought after watchmaking techniques that enthusiasts and collectors dream of.
Today, let's take a look at one of the special products, which has just announced a global limited edition of 160 pieces to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of West Rail. This is part of the "Nishitetsu" watch series launched by Nishitetsu for a long time, showcasing the brand's important technological achievements and the highest level of watchmaking craftsmanship. Watches with the "Nishitetsu" logo are the flagship products of the brand, typically featuring complex case and dial finishes, or uncommon high specification movements.
Just a quick glance at the news pictures will excite most collectors. The dial adopts an "iceberg" style finish, emitting surprising ideas and artistic atmosphere, with a simple and clean layout and slender rod-shaped hour markers. The relatively simple design language displayed here makes simple communication the dominant feature of the watch, rather than focusing on a single function or specification, such as a striking tourbillon or groove bezel.
This new product not only has an exquisite appearance, but also uses a rare metal mixture material. The case is made of stainless steel, and the bezel is made of 18K white gold. Usually, this metal combination is used to highlight a two tone appearance with two different metal colors, but in this case, Nishitetsu spares no effort in creating extremely subtle contrasts and gloss changes from the two white metals.
The size of this watch is suitable for most wrist sizes, with a diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 10.9mm, which is very thin. Strangely, Nishitetsu has adopted an integrated leather strap design, no longer using the traditional ear design, but adopting a thicker padded appearance - one can speculate that this can also increase the presence of the wrist.
