2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Monaco collection of TAG Heuer's ultimate watches.
This square automatic chronograph was launched simultaneously in New York and Geneva on March 3, 1969, and was quickly adopted by Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert (1936-1971). It was later worn by American actor Steve McQueen (1930-1980) in the movie Le Mans (1971). In order to continue the celebration throughout the year, the brand has decided to launch five timely collections to celebrate this half century, each inspired by the decade of this famous watch. The new Monaco 1969-1979 limited edition is only available in 169 pieces and is the first product in the anniversary series.
This watch was unveiled in Monaco on May 24th, equipped with a modern version of its original automatic movement 11. This movement provides 40 hours of power reserve, located in the famous square steel case (39 x 39mm), with a waterproof depth of 100 meters, a crown at the 9 o'clock position, and buttons at the 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions.
