In 1978, the Arceau watch was born, inspired by the creative spirit of Henri d'Origny. With a wave of his hand, he put this watch into practice. At that time, he may not have realized that this was not only an iconic work of Herm è s, but also a blank canvas that could carry all of Herm è s' mechanical and artistic fantasies. 45 years later, his works have become representatives of a unique style, and the Arceau Costume de F ê te two person wristwatch is an example of this. This two person watch was launched at the end of this year, coinciding with the celebration of Herm è s' transition. The inspiration comes from the silk handkerchief of the same name created by young artist Jan Bajtlik in Warsaw at the end of 2019. Jan Bajtlik has been working with Herm è s Paris branch for about seven years.
This pair watch shows the beauty of Polish tradition, typical Krakow costumes and local Paper Cuttings art in miniature.
The original fabric designed by Jan Bajtlik represents a beautifully decorated corset with colorful details. The left shoulder of this sleeveless garment features a galloping horse, and this scene was chosen to be transplanted onto the dials of these two wristwatches. Hermes craftsmen skillfully fixed two parts on the base of a metal disc: the half moon decoration represents a pearl pattern, made of multiple layers of micro paint to increase volume, and the fine leather inlay process adds vitality to the frame. On Herm è s' iconic animal harness and clothing, the front paws proudly stand upright, with small sequins sewn with copper wire.
In the center of this thousand tone screen, two slender silver or gold hands indicate hours and minutes through the automatic H1912 movement. This homemade movement bounces at a standard frequency of 4 Hz and provides 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound. It features a platinum or rose gold case with 82 diamonds set on the bezel, secured to the wrist with a cherry pink or electric blue Swift calf leather strap.
