From the founding of the company in 1860 to the 60th anniversary of the legendary Carrera series watches in 2023, innovation has always been the driving force of TAG Heuer's creativity and will continue to be so, as it is deeply rooted in the brand's genes. It is this iconic brand with a 60 year history that has chosen to serve as an ambassador for a little-known expertise in the watchmaking industry: the use of synthetic gemstones.
However, the extremely unique Carrera plasma diamond avant-garde chronograph 44mm tourbillon watch successfully launched at the "Watch and Miracle" exhibition not only follows the conventional rules based on classic bright inlay, but also imposes its own style by displaying a set of laboratory gems on a black aluminum shell.
These diamonds are randomly distributed on the watch case, cut into rectangles, presenting different and unprecedented geometric shapes, and also complementing the first row of links in the bracelet. The crown itself is entirely made of a 2.5-carat diamond, featuring the typical groove profile of a winding mechanism, while the piston button that controls the timing function is made of DLC coated steel.
At the same time, the dial is composed of polycrystalline diamonds (a type of kaleidoscope shaped crystal that grows together to form a single crystal), accompanied by rectangular hour markers designed with synthetic stones. The minute (3 o'clock position) and hour (9 o'clock position) counters are located at the binocular position, separated by two black circles, displaying short-term measurement values. The window at the 6 o'clock position displays the rhythmic operation of the tourbillon, which, like other indicators, is driven by the COSC certified Heuer 02T Nanograph movement. Its hollow pendulum provides 65 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
